Telangana CM K Chandrasekhar Rao seems to be keen on revamping the Revenue Department from the village level itself to curb the corruption. There is a possibility of scrapping VRO (Village Revenue Officer) System and merging the employees with Panchayat Raj or Agriculture Department. An official announcement could be arriving soon in this regard.
During the Assembly Sessions, KCR commented VROs have more powers than that of Chief Minister, Chief Secretary and Land Administration Chief Commissioner. He might be of the feeling that the system will be under threat if Revenue Department wasn't revamped.
KCR offered indications of bring revolutionary changes in the Revenue Department during the 2019 Lok Sabha Polls. Already, The exercise is being done on the new legislation to be introduced. Title Guarantee Act is likely to be brought to avoid land disputes. Even the cancellation of VRO System is seriously considered.
VROs act as representatives of the Government in the villages. Due to the rise of land costs, Even the disputes over registrations and errors in names/borders increased. Lack of awareness among VROs over the laws is also resulting in more blunders.
