Actor Mohan Babu has been keeping everyone on tenterhooks with his latest moves. He has suddenly become active in his home district of Chittoor. Questions are being raised as to whether he is planning to contest from some constituency in Chittoor district in 2024. He is also sending conflicting signals about the party he might like to join.
Sources close to Mohan Babu say that he is deeply unhappy with YS Jagan Mohan Reddy. At the same time, he is extending a hand of friendship to both the TDP and the BJP. He has recently invited Chandrababu Naidu to a programme organized to mark the consecration of a Saibaba temple. This is being seen as an attempt to get pally with Chandrababu Naidu.
Sources say Mohan Babu wants to contest from Chandragiri assembly constituency. They also point out that Chandrababu Naidu is looking for a suitable candidate to take on a strong YSRCP leader such as Chevireddy Bhaskar Reddy. Though Mohan Babu is refusing to answer any question related to politics, it is an open secret that he is holding parleys with the TDP leaders of Chittoor district.
It may be recalled that Mohan Babu had remained faithful to late NTR. He had even been made a Rajya Sabha MP. However, his relations with Chandrababu Naidu have always been now-on, now-off. He gradually moved away and befriended the YSRCP. But, at the same time, he had always maintained good relations with the BJP too. One may have to wait for some more time to understand his political moves.
