The recent Munugode by-election win was very crucial for the Telangana-based TRS which wants to foray into national politics to lock horns with the Bharatiya Janata Party. The BJP is also very strong in Telangana. TRS wanted to hit two birds- by proving TRS is ready to take on BJP and showing BJP what its ground-level strength is.
TRS and BJP eyed victory in the by-poll as the political experts predicted that the result would predict the voters' pulse in the next general elections. In the high-voltage election, TRS emerged victorious that too with a big margin of more than 10,000.
On top of this, TRS defeated the former MLA Komatireddy Raj Gopal Reddy who paved way for the by-poll by resigning as the MLA. Not just victory, TRS candidate Kusukuntla Prabhakar Reddy got the majority in the stronghold of Raj Gopal Reddy.
The TRS which is in full josh with the Munugode by-election result is said to be in plans to go for early polls to bank on the positivity the party has with the by-poll win. The BJP is in self-defense mode now and trying hard to say that TRS won the election with money and power.
This would be the correct time for TRS if it wants to go for early polls. The ruling party is banking high on the recent win and the opponent BJP is busy proving the point that morally it has won the election as the ruling party used its manpower and money power to win the poll.
If KCR goes for the early polls, he will have plenty of time to focus on national politics. For the past few weeks, it has been reported that KCR would focus on national politics and his son KTR would be taking care of state politics. This cannot happen if TRS cannot win the polls.
The Telangana Chief Minister went for early polls before the 2018 polls seeing that opposition parties are joining hands. When various parties joined hands to form a grand alliance, KCR strategically raised the Andhra-Telangana idea once again and said Andhra leaders are coming to rule us again. This made wonders and TRS won the polls with a big majority. TRS is in similar plans now reportedly.
