The IT industry has been on a spree of layoffs. Due to various reasons, IT companies and firms are sacking employees. Firms irrespective of size are sacking employees. As a change in the trend, employees of a big tech firm announced mass resignations. The development was not expected.
The Tata Group has a rich legacy in India and it is spread into various sectors. Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) which is among the largest Tech companies is also a part of the Tata Group. The tech giant has over 6 lakh employees across the globe working in different countries. Now the company is facing mass resignations from the women employees.
In the annual report, Milind Lakkad, the Head of Human Resources at TCS is believed to have said that a big share of women employees announced their resignations. Though there could be other reasons as well, asking women employees to come back to the office might be a big reason.
Along with the other firms, the TCS also asked the employees to work remotely due to the Covid scare. As things became normal now, the TCS management directed the workforce to come to the office as they used to do earlier.
As per the information, women employees in big numbers announced their resignations as the firm asked the employees to come back to the office. In the last financial year, around 20 percent of employees resigned and a big share of them is expected to be women.
Work From Home became a new normal for employees over the past three years. Employees got accustomed to this model and they want to continue the same if given a chance. Mass resignations of women employees is another example that employees like to WFH.
The Work From Home model gave a big opportunity for women employees to take care of house chores and work as well. Employees with small kids cannot go to the office as kids want mothers by their side up to a certain age.
