A Case was filed by Pro-Statehood Activists against Pawan Kalyan accusing the Actor-turned-Politician of speaking as if Telangana Movement was led by Drunkards. They had even staged protests at his Residence and Jana Sena Party Office in Hyderabad.
Protestors alleged Pawan Kalyan did say Telangana Agitation ended after ban on liquor. They questioned, How could disrespect those who fought for the Statehood by linking the agitation with alcohol? The statement he made hurt all those who fought for Telangana Statehood against all the odds.
Reacting on the controversy, Pawan Kalyan said: 'I received a phone call upon landing in Rajahmundry about the dharna in front of my house. What they have been accusing is no where close to what I had said 5 days ago. It's a conspiracy to ensure My Bhimavaram Tour doesn't get highlighted. Actually, I spoke about Jagan's Liquor Prohibition Promise on that day.
I had mentioned about the quote from Puchalapalli Sundaraiah's book on Telangana Sayudha Poratam. Conveyed it's impossible to implement liquor prohibition if its part of our culture. Misquoting my statement, They resorted to attack. Won't tolerate if they target my house or party office. I will apologise if I speak anything wrongly but won't spare if anyone attacks the house in which my children live. Taking this matter to the notice of Telangana CM KCR and Governor ESL Narasimhan'.
