Update: 2022-11-28 10:51 GMT
A Chennai Super Kings(CSK) player played a sensational knock in the ongoing Vijay Hazare Trophy tournament and scored his double century. Batman not only brought his double century but also added a world record in A-List history by scoring seven sixes in an over.

Young batsman Ruturaj Gaikwad who plays for Maharashtra in domestic cricket added a world record in the last over of the match by sending seven balls in the over including a no-ball for a maximum.

When Uttar Pradesh bowler Shiva Singh came to bowl the last over he was punished with four back-to-back sixes. In pressure, he bowled a no-ball in the fifth and that was also sent out of the boundary line. The extra ball and the last delivery of the over were also smashed for sixes.

He scored 43 runs in the 49th over of the match and played a sensational knock of 220 runs not out. In the quarterfinal match of the Vijay Hazare Trophy, Gaikwad smashed 10 boundaries and 16 maximums. He took just 159 deliveries for this.

Gaikwad’s sensational innings helped his team put up a big total of 330 in their quota for the loss of five wickets. His heroics helped him join the elite list of players who scored six sixes in an over.

Making the record a special one Gaikwad scored seven sixes in one over. This record is likely to stay intact for a few years as a bowler bowling a no-ball and all the seven balls going for maximums is very rare.

Sir Garfield Sobers, Ravi Shastri, Herschelle Gibbs, Yuvraj Singh, Ross Whiteley, Haztratullah Zazai, Leo Carter, Kieron Pollard, and Thisara Perera scored six sixes in one over earlier. Now Ruturaj Gaikwad joined the list and even scored a six extra.

His double century will also be special for the young batsman as he equaled the record of sixes in a match. Indian skipper Hitman Rohit Sharma smashed 16 sixes while playing against Sri Lanka when he scored a double century. Gaikwad also scored the same number of sixes and seven sixes came in one over.
