Prime Minister Narendra Modi's proposed visit to Visakhapatnam has come as a godsent opportunity to the ruling YSRCP in Andhra Pradesh. The party and the Government is said to be planning to use the opportunity fully to show to the opposition that the BJP will not align with the TDP in the 2024 elections.
The YSRCP is trying to make the PM's visit a massive success by mobilizing at least a lakh people to his public meeting. This would be an indirect signal to the TDP, which is hoping to bring the BJP into its fold and form an anti-YSRCP alliance. Already the TDP has managed to wean away Pawan Kalyan's Jana Sena from its alliance with the BJP.
By organizing a massive show of strength, the YSRCP hopes to prove that its relationship with the BJP is solid and sound. It would also be a clear signal that the BJP will not join the TDP-led alliance for the 2024 elections. The TDP badly needs the support of both the Jana Sena and the BJP to defeat the YSRCP in the 2024 elections.
This also shows that the BJP is in no mood to forgive the TDP for its criticism of Modi and physical attacks on Amit Shah during his Tirupati tour during Chandrababu regime. By making the PM's public meeting a success, the YSRCP can show that the BJP will not align with the TDP. This will be a dampener for Chandrababu Naidu, who is hoping that the BJP will join him in future.
