2 Scientists Win Nobel For Their Contributions For mRNA!

Without any doubt, COVID is the pandemic we as a world saw in the recent past. No words can describe the difficulties and troubles we saw with the virus. Crores of people across the globe came in contact with the virus and even the superpower nations struggle with the Covid outbreak.
The situation would have been different if not for the medicine for the virus. mRNA vax is a big breakthrough in this and Katalin Kariko and Drew Weissman were behind this. Now the two scientists were honored with the prestigious 2023 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine.
The scientists were picked by the committee for the prestigious award. The committee said that they were honoured with the award for the discoveries in nucleoside base modifications which played a big role in developing the mRNA vaccines against COVID-19.
"The laureates contributed to the unprecedented rate of vaccine development during one of the greatest threats to human health in modern times," the Nobel Prize committee said about the two scientists.
The efforts they put in messenger ribonucleic acid (mRNA) vaccines paved the path for the Moderna and Pfizer/BioNTech vaccines they were used across the globe to cure the Covid. If not for their work the situation would have been even more problematic.
mRNA vaccines are also being used for other issues as well. So the work they put in will come in handy to the world to deal with the deadly diseases that emerge in the coming days as well.
Announcing the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine, the Noble Assembly said that they were awarded the award for their discoveries in nucleoside base modifications that helped in COVID-19 vaccines.
"BREAKING NEWS The 2023 #NobelPrize in Physiology or Medicine has been awarded to Katalin Karikó and Drew Weissman for their discoveries concerning nucleoside base modifications that enabled the development of effective mRNA vaccines against COVID-19," the Assembly said.
