Survey predicts 8 percent vote for BJP in Andhra Pradesh?
The survey has also predicted a significant rise in support for the TDP
The latest India TV - CNX opinion poll has a big surprise for Andhra Pradesh politics. That the YSRCP will romp home with 46 per cent votes and 17 of the 25 Lok Sabha seats is no surprise. The survey has also predicted a significant rise in support for the TDP and claimed that it would get 36 per cent of the popular vote and get 7 seats as against the current tally of 3 seats.
But, the biggest surprise of the survey is that the BJP-Jana Sena front would get up to 8 per cent popular vote. Though the BJP and Jana Sena might not win any seat, they would still improve their performance significantly. The BJP currently has just less than one per cent popular vote. Eight per cent of the popular vote is a huge jump for the party.
If one goes by the survey report, the BJP and Jana Sena together are growing in AP. This also means that the TDP would have to wait for another five years for power. This means it might have to contest the 2029 elections with its patriarch Chandrababu Naidu working only in advisory role due to his advancing age.
The only consolation for the TDP is the fact that its vote percentage will improve considerably. Its tally too is likely to go up from 3 to 7. However, the situation could significantly get altered if the TDP manages to cobble up an alliance with both the Jana Sena and the BJP ahead of the 2024 elections.
