Convicts Remission In Bilkis Bano Case Reversed!

The 2002 Gujarat riots is one of the dark episodes in the country. Many heart-wrenching incidents came to light during the riots and the victims attacked had many sleepless nights. One incident needs a special mention for the devastating impact it left.
Those who follow the news know about the Bilkis Bano case. The victim was Raped and her family was killed in the riots. She has been waging a legal battle against the convicts in the case. Her efforts resulted in a big relief to her with the Supreme Court's orders.
The Supreme Court canceled the Release Of Bilkis Bano case convicts. The Apex Court said that the Gujarat government's decision to release the convicts was not right. A 2-judge Supreme Court bench gave the verdict and directed the convicts to surrender in 2 weeks.
Talking about the orders issued by the Gujarat Government, the Supreme Court said that the state government is not entitled to grant the remission and observed that the Maharashtra government can do this and the trial was started in the case.
Ahead of the general elections in Gujarat, the government released the convicts which raised many eyeballs. The decision sparked a big criticism on how the convicts in a heinous crime can be released that too on Independence Day. On top of this, the convicts received a hero welcome when they were released.
Sweets were distributed and flowers were showered on them when they walked out of the jail. The opposition parties took strong objection to this and filed a few petitions in the Court. Now the verdict was given directing the convicts to surrender in two weeks.
