Update: 2024-03-11 13:33 GMT

The BJP is adamant about winning the next Lok Sabha elections and winning 400 seats and 370 seats on its own. It is not leaving any stone unturned in this regard. Meetings are planned across the states to leave a strong impression on the voters in various parts of the country.

As a shot in the arm effort, the Union Government took a sensational decision on the controversial CAA. It is said that the rules for the CAA are notified. The news agencies and journalists are saying that CAA was implemented and the rules would be notified soon.

The Press Information Bureau spokesperson took to social media and said that the rules under the CAA would be issued by the Home Ministry. “Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) will be notifying today, the Rules under the Citizenship (Amendment) Act, 2019 (CAA-2019). These rules, called the Citizenship (Amendment) Rules, 2024 will enable the persons eligible under CAA-2019 to apply for grant of Indian citizenship,” the tweet reads.

Even the journalists and opposition parties are saying the same and dubbing the move as an election gimmick. The Congress party said that it is nothing but a strategy to win the elections

There is a reason behind this. The decision came ahead of the Lok Sabha elections and before the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) came into existence in the country.

It is known that the CAA announcement led to intense protests in the country. Due to various reasons, it was not implemented. A few weeks back Amit Shah said that CAA would be implemented in 2024. Making this true the big news was announced.

The Citizenship (Amendment) Act, 2019 was announced by the BJP-led Centre to grant citizenship to minorities who were persecuted in the neighboring countries. Minorities from Pakistan, Afghanistan, and Bangladesh can get citizenship here and the groups include Hindu, Sikh, Jain, Parsi, Buddhist, and Christian communities.
