BJP MLAs Take Oath After Prasad Kumar Elected As Speaker!
After Prasad Kumar assumed the Chair, the eight MLAs took oath while he administered the process.
As the elections were concluded in Telangana, AIMIM leader Akbaruddin Owaisi was appointed as the pro-tem Speaker of the House to administer the oath-taking ceremony of the MLAs so that they could elect the Speaker of the House to continue the further proceedings.
Appointing Akbaruddin Owaisi as the pro-tem Speaker did not go well with the BJP leaders as they took a strong objection. They said that they would not take the oath if Owaisi was the speaker and stuck to their words.
Eight MLAs took oath only after Prasad Kumar was unanimously elected as the Speaker. After Prasad Kumar assumed the Chair, the eight MLAs took oath while he administered the process.
Raja Singh(Goshamahal), K. Venkataramana Reddy (Kamareddy), P. Rakesh Reddy (Armoor), A. Maheshwar Reddy (Nirmal), P. Harish (Sirpur Kagaznagar), P. Shanker (Adilabad), Rama Rao Pawar (Mudhole) and D. Suryanarayana (Nizamabad Urban) took oath inside the Assembly House.
Earlier BJP leaders including Raja Singh alleged that Owaisi was appointed as the pro-tem Speaker by not following the rules as there are other seniors in the House. They also alleged that to appease Muslims and the AIMIM party, Akbaruddin Owaisi was selected as the pro-tem Speaker.
A few BJP leaders even complained to Telangana Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan on selecting Owaisi as the pro-tem Speaker alleging the violation of norms.
Now the eight MLAs took oath inside the house while Prasad Kumar administred the oath. They earlier said that they would not take oath if Owaisi administered the oath and they followed the same.
