The Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister moved the High Court seeking directives to dismiss the petition that was filed by the CBI against him in connection with the disproportionate assets case.
Those who follow politics will be aware of DK Shiva Kumar who is serving as the Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister. In the recent elections, the firebrand leader played a big role in the party’s win. Now the senior Congress leader faced a big blow with the orders of the Court.
The Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister moved the High Court seeking directives to dismiss the petition that was filed by the CBI against him in connection with the disproportionate assets case. However, the High Court not only said no to this but also gave directives to the investigating agency.
The High Court said that the petition cannot be accepted as the CBI’s investigation has been going on for a long time. Having said that, the High Court gave three months for the CBI to finish the investigation and file a report.
The case was filed in 2020 and has been under investigation stage for around three years. A few months back, the Court issued a stay order on the investigation. A few days back, the CBI moved the Supreme Court to lift the stay so that the investigation could progress.
However, the Apex court refused to lift the ban and asked DK Shiva Kumar to give his response. The Deputy Chief Minister was asked to give a response on this by the 7th of November.
Now the High Court said no to dismiss the FIR and asked the CBI to finish the probe in three months and submit the final report. The case was filed in 2020. The CBI says that between April 1, 2013 and April 30, 2018, DK Shivakumar and his family possessed assets worth multiple crores.
