The Wait Continues: Court Reserves Verdict On CBN's Plea!

In what could be a big development in the Andhra Pradesh political landscape, senior politician Chandrababu Naidu was arrested and sent to prison in connection with the AP Skill Development Scam. The investigating agency Crime Investigation Department (CID) which is probing the case arrested the former Chief Minister and produced him before the court.

As per the court orders, he was sent to the remand. Since then a legal battle has been going on to get relief. Chandrababu Naidu moved many courts to walk out of the case. As a big step, he filed a quash petition which is being heard by the Supreme Court. At regular intervals, the petition is being heard.

While Chandrababu is trying hard to get orders to quash the case against him, the CID is countering this. His special leave petition in this regard was heard by the court today. After hearing the arguments of both sides, the verdict was reserved.

It is known that Section 17 A has a lot of significance in the case. While the lawyers representing Chandrababu Naidu have been arguing that the section applies in the case and the investigation should be done under this, the CID lawyers are countering this.

The same happened today during the arguments. Former Attorney-General for India Mukul Rohatgi represented the CID in the Supreme Court and placed his arguments that section 17 A won't apply in this case. Saying that the section won't apply in the old cases, he said that the section should not be a shield for the corrupt.

Former solicitor general of India Harish Salve represented Chandrababu Naidu in the case and said that section 17 A applies in the case as it was brought to stop the political vendetta. He listed the verdicts in a few cases and said that Chandrababu Naidu will have protection under the section.

After hearing the arguments of both sides, the Supreme Court bench reserved its verdict. Now all the focus is on the Supreme Court to see what it will say in the verdict.
