Atchutapuram SEZ Explosion: How The Tragedy Hit?

The Atchutapuram SEZ was on high alert due to a massive explosion. The explosion was reported on Wednesday. Initially, only a few casualties and injuries were reported. However, the count increased as the rescue operation went forward and bodies were identified.

As per the information, as many as 17 people breathed their last while 60 people sustained serious injuries. It is said that the casualty count might increase further. The disaster was triggered by a reactor blast.

The impact of the blast was such that the ceiling of the Pharma company collapsed. With this, the slab fell and a few people were trapped under the ruins. As the AC units also caught fire, thick smoke, and fire gripped the Pharma company. Inhaling the smoke many fell sick, say reports.

It is said that the blast occurred after employees of Sift A completed their work and Shift B employees came to take charge. As the employees were in big numbers this is believed to have resulted in casualties and injuries in big numbers.

Some employees sustained serious injuries in the disaster who were shifted to the hospital for treatment. Concerned Collector and SP visited the spot to oversee the rescue operation.

A few heart-wrenching incidents were also reported from the issue. A young chemist returned to work after celebrating Rakhi with family. Despite her family insisting that she stay a few more days she denied saying that she has work. Tragedy hit her as he breathed her last in the explosion.

In another sad incident, an ITI Diploma graduate passed away. His wedding is scheduled in forty days and his family is busy with the preparations. But fate had other plans as he passed away.
