The United States administration is already cracking down on the H1B policy and even the local population there is vexed with the overtly exploited visa process that has produced a lot of social backlash.
Now, a Texas investigation has revealed a troubling pattern involving job postings that openly preferred hiring only H-1B visa holders. A local journalist looked into several LinkedIn listings and discovered that many of the companies behind them either didn’t seem to exist, had bogus contact information, or were listed at vacant or residential addresses.
These findings raised concerns that some recruiters and firms may be using the H-1B work visa system in ways that weren’t intended essentially posting jobs just to sponsor foreign workers without any real business operations.
The H-1B visa is supposed to allow U.S. employers to fill specialized roles when there aren’t qualified American workers available. But these suspicious job ads sparked questions about whether the system was being manipulated.
Texas officials took note, and the state attorney general launched a formal inquiry into several companies with questionable listings. Authorities are demanding documentation to prove that these employers are legitimate and are offering real jobs.
So far, no criminal charges have been publicly announced, and it’s not yet clear how widespread any wrongdoing might be. Still, the episode has fueled broader debate in Texas about how the H-1B program is used and whether tighter oversight is needed to prevent abuse.
