It has become extremely common for big companies to replace human workforce with artificial intelligence, and this has been the case for the last few years. This initially started in software industry and extended to the physical automobile industry as well.
But things are changing drastically as AI costs are shooting through the roof and companies have decided that human workforce is far better. This is a new topic in discussion now.
One of the leading automobile manufacturers in the world, Ford motors has decided to roll back on the decision of replacing humans with AI. They have taken a pretty consolidated decision to this effect.
According to the latest development, Ford motors company had to hire, promote, and bring back more than 350 engineers after realizing AI couldn’t replace years of hands-on experience.
Ford’s VP of Vehicle Hardware Engineering, Charles Poon, said AI is a great tool but only as good as the information it’s trained on. Those experienced engineers are now training younger employees, improving AI, and catching problems earlier before cars go into production.
Ford has cut over 5,000 workers since 2020 and recalled more cars than any other US automaker this year. The company rehired, newly hired, or promoted 350 experienced engineers to fix the damage.
It is extremely positive to see big companies replace AI with human workforce after realising their errors, and this should be a common practice from now on.
