One of the main contributing factors is the media rights as brands and advertisements are always ready to pay huge money for the IPL so that they can reach millions of followers on a daily basis. The interesting observation here is that even poorly performing teams in the IPL managed to make significant amount of money due to the central contract and Media rights that come from the BCCI.
