This already known that the United States administration has started to connect on heavily on the Indian authorities regarding oil purchase and more. Now, actor politician Kamal Haasan has strongly responded to comments surrounding India’s purchase of Russian oil, asking Donald Trump to “mind his own business” and respect India’s sovereignty.

His remarks came after the United States announced a temporary 30 day waiver allowing Indian refineries to continue buying Russian oil amid global energy disruptions. In an open letter posted on the social media platform X, Kamal Haasan stressed that India is an independent nation and does not take orders from foreign powers.

Addressing Trump directly, he wrote that the people of India belong to a free and sovereign country and no longer follow instructions from distant foreign shores. He added that mutual respect between sovereign nations is the foundation for lasting global peace.

The controversy emerged after the US government granted a short term waiver permitting Indian companies to continue purchasing Russian energy. The move came at a time when global oil markets are facing uncertainty due to rising geopolitical tensions in West Asia and disruptions in supply routes.

Meanwhile, the Indian government has also maintained that the country’s energy policy is guided purely by national interest. Officials stated that India buys crude oil from wherever it is available at the most competitive and affordable price.

They also highlighted that India has diversified its oil import sources in recent years to ensure stable supply and reduce dependence on any single region. Kamal Haasan’s statement quickly gained attention online, triggering debate on foreign policy, energy security, and India’s strategic independence in global markets.
