Kamal Haasan To Contest From Coimbatore Lok Sabha Seat?

Celebrated actor-director Kamal Haasan launched his political party a few years back and he even contested the 2021 general elections in Tamil Nadu. However, he could not show his impact and lost the Coimbatore South seat with a small margin. BJP leader Vanathi Sreenivasan won the elections there.

With the Lok Sabha elections fast approaching, Kamal Haasan is busy making his party Makkal Needhi Maiam (MNM) strong at the root level. For this he is meeting the party functionaries regularly. He is focusing on the constituencies to know the issues that are faced by the people there.

Ahead of the much-anticipated 2024 Lok Sabha elections, we are hearing reports that Kamal Haasan might run the Coimbatore Lok Sabha elections. If everything goes well we can see him running the elections from the Lok Sabha seat. But there is a twist in the news.

As per the reports, there might be an alliance and Kamal Haasan would get the seat as part of this. Kamal Haasan came very close to winning in the previous Assembly elections. But he fell short of the margin. Given this, Kamal Haasan might try his luck again from Coimbatore but as an MP.

Political observers say that ruling DMK and MNM might join hands and go for the polls. Under the alliance, Kamal Haasan would contest from the Lok Sabha seat.

DMK and Congress have a long standing friendship and the both parties are in alliance. If MNM joins them, then the alliance becomes a three party one.

It is said that a proposal was also sent to MNM and Kamal Haasan is yet to take a call on this. If he takes a decision then Ulaganayagan might run the Lok Sabha elections from Coimbatore.

On the other hand, the three parties have one thing in common which is their fight against the BJP. This common point might be a crucial one if the alliance happens.

Kamal Haasan never left any opportunity to take on the BJP and Prime Minister Narendra Modi. If he gets elected to Lok Sabha then he can raise his voice in the Parliament.

Another thing that needs to be noted here is that Kamal Haasan walked along with Rahul Gandhi in the Bharat Jodo yatra and even congratulated the Gandhi scion for coming up with such an idea.

Considering all these factors, reports say that Kamal Haasan might go for alliance and run the Lok Sabha elections from Coimbatore.
