Putting an end to the long wait, the Bharat Rashtra Samithi(BRS) leadership announced the list of candidates who will contest the next elections. The candidates list was announced for just 115 constituencies as four seats were put on hold. Nampally, Goshamahal, Jangaon, and Narsapur are the seats that are put on hold.

The list caught everyone’s attention as less than 10 women candidates were given a ticket. The list announced by the party says that only six women were given tickets. Padma. G. Lasya, Nanditha, Kova Lakshmi, Banot Haripriya Naik, Bade Nagajyothi, and Gongidi Sunitha are the women candidates who got tickets.

It is a big shock that in the 115 seats only six women candidates were given. The reason behind the shock is that Kavita has been fighting for the Women’s Reservation Bill and it is known that she sat for a hunger strike on this in Delhi and a few parties also supported it.

Amid this, her party gave tickets to only six women candidates. Many ask how the party can give only six tickets to women candidates when she has been fighting for the Women’s Reservation Bill.

Forget about 30 percent, not even a 10 percent reservation was imposed in granting tickets. This is not a small issue and would increase the political heat. We have to wait and see how the opposition parties would react to this and whether they can pick up the fight.
