The Polavaram project holds great significance as far as the state's interests are concerned. Once the project is finished the irrigation water issue would be addressed largely. The current government is focusing on the Polavaram project more and every Monday Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu visits the project to oversee the progress.

The crucial project led to war and words between the ruling and opposition sides. They are playing a blame game over the slowdown of the progress in the tenure of the other sides. The Union Government is also showing interest in the project and an expert team visited the site.

The expert team inspected the project for a few days and submitted its report. As per the mainstream media, the team proposed that a new diaphragm wall should be constructed instead of repairing the existing one.

In the recommendations made to Central Water Commission (CWC) Chairman Kushvinder Vohra, the panel said that a new diaphragm wall should be constructed. In the report, the panel also gave its thoughts on other aspects like the condition of other structures.

The Diaphragm Wall was damaged earlier due to the floods. The previous government said that the project would be delayed due to the damage. An expert committee met for a crucial meeting and confirmed the damage.

The new government kept its focus on the project and wants to increase the pace of construction. Now the experts team said the Diaphragm wall should be completed instead of repairing the existing one.

The expert panel is expected to submit another report on the project with more suggestions on a lot of issues. Based on the suggestions they would go forward with the construction and a few changes in the designs might also happen.
