Kothagudem MLA Vanama Venkateswara Rao was disqualified by the High Court of Telangana recently
It is known that BRS Kothagudem MLA Vanama Venkateswara Rao was disqualified by the High Court of Telangana recently. The Court gave this verdict saying that the election is void. When discussions were still going on about this, the issue took a big turn with the ruling party MLA getting a big relief.
Vanama Venkateswara Rao knocked on the doors of the Supreme Court to challenge the High Court verdict. He got a big relief and the Supreme Court issued a stay on this. Having stayed the verdict, the Supreme Court served notices to the defendants and directed them to file counter affidavits. The next hearing in the case was postponed to four weeks later.
Vanama's petition was heard by the bench comprising Justices Suryakant and Dipankar Dutta. The hearing happened on Monday and the bench gave the orders. Now we have to wait and see what the defendants would say in their counters.
His disqualification was announced by the High Court of Telangana hearing a petition filed by one Jalagam Venkatrao. The case has been happening for a few years now. Jalagam came second in the elections.
In the 2018 elections, Vanama won the elections, and Jalagam Venkatrao came second. Later, he moved the court saying that Vanama provided false information in the election affidavit. As a big development, the High Court gave the orders. However, the Supreme Court stayed the verdict.
