Strategic Move: BJP Supports Ex-CM As Independent MP!

Politics is one such arena where we cannot predict what happens. Leaders who held big positions might struggle for the future and their existence. A senior leader is a big example of this. The leader who is a close aide of a Chief Minister and himself served as the CM is now fighting for his identity.

In a big step, he is trying his luck as an independent MP in the upcoming elections. As if that is not enough the Bharatiya Janata Party is supporting the former CM by not announcing the candidate in the seat. The seat became a big sensation with this.

O Panneerselvam (OPS) is an aide of former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa. Whenever she had issues he was made the CM. After her demise, OPS became the CM of the state again.

He was the CM a few times. Despite this, he is struggling for his identity. The OPS faction and other sides are locking horns with each other. With this OPS wants to contest as the independent MP candidate from the Ramanathapuram seat. BJP is supporting him strategically.

BJP and AIADMK have had good ties for some time. Despite this AIADMK left the alliance with the party last year. However, OPS has good ties and this might have made the BJP an unexpected call to support him.

BJP has been trying hard to win MP seats in TamilNadu. With OPS contesting as an independent candidate BJP’s support might be strategic to see him support the party if needed if he wins elections.

The seat is getting all the attention to see if OPS can win the seat which will see a three-faced fight. Besides BJP support, a section of AIADMK supporters might also help OPS.

Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) leader Kani K Navas is the sitting candidate from the Ramanathapuram seat and AIADMK leader P Jayaperumal is in the race. OPS is an independent candidate. We have to see what he can do in the seat where the Muslim population is significant.
