A tragic event in Brahmpuri, near Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, has shocked the entire country. Saurabh Rajput, a 29-year-old former Merchant Navy officer who later worked in a bakery in London, was brutally murdered by his wife, Muskaan Rastogi, 27, and her lover, Sahil Shukla, 25, on March 4. Saurabh had returned to India on February 24 to celebrate his wife’s birthday. After drugging his dinner, Muskaan and Sahil killed him in their own home. They then dismembered his body in the bathroom using a knife and blade, hiding the remains in a plastic drum filled with cement.
Saurabh and Muskaan got married in 2016, even though Saurabh’s wealthy parents opposed the marriage and disowned him. Muskaan and Sahil had been friends since school and rekindled their relationship through a WhatsApp group. After the murder, they fled to Shimla, where they got married in a temple. Two weeks later, they returned to Uttar Pradesh and were arrested.
In the aftermath, both the victim’s and the killer’s families are united in demanding severe punishment for Muskaan and Sahil. Muskaan’s parents have disowned her, with her mother saying Muskaan no longer deserves to live for what she did to Saurabh, who was a kind and loving person. Muskaan’s father also called for her execution, suggesting it should be shown on live TV as a warning to others.
Saurabh’s mother, Renu Devi, has accused Muskaan’s parents of knowing about the crime. She shared how their six-year-old granddaughter might have witnessed the murder, saying, "Papa was kept in a drum." This has led to a call for the entire family involved and Sahil to receive the death penalty, showing how deeply this tragedy has affected both families.
This brutal murder has caused deep pain for both families and sparked a national conversation about the consequences of such terrible acts. The strong demand for capital punishment reflects the seriousness of the crime and the lasting impact on everyone involved.
