It is already known that the global oil trade took a severe due to the ongoing war between Iran and the United States. The situation is such that several countries have enforced energy lockdowns due to reduced supply of oil.

In the meanwhile, other countries have started to drastically, increase the oil prices due to the fluctuations in the global market. However, the Indian government has been rather straightforward with this as there have been no major increase in oil prices.

However, there have been recent speculations about the possibility of the government of India, considering the idea of hiking the prices of petrol and diesel by ₹25 to ₹28 after the election.

But the ministry of petroleum has finally issued a crucial clarification on this matter as it has been confirmed that there is no such idea to increase the oil prices.

There are some news reports suggesting a price hike of petrol and diesel. It is hereby clarified that there is no such proposal under consideration by the Government. Such news items are designed to create fear and panic amongst the citizens and are mischievous and misleading.

In fact, India is the only country where petrol and diesel prices haven’t increased in the last 4 years. Govt of India and Oil PSUs have taken relentless steps in order to insulate the Indian citizens from steep increases in international prices, the communication from the ministry of petroleum read on this matter.

It would really be a huge burden on the general population if the government actually increases the petrol prices by ₹28. So it is finally good to learn that the government and the consent ministry do not have any such proposals for the time being.
