Defamation Case: SC Gives Breather To Rahul Gandhi!
Now the issue took a big turn with Rahul Gandhi getting a big relief
The old comments of Congress former chief Rahul Gandhi came back to bite him as he was disqualified by a court in Surat. Hearing a petition filed by an MLA against Rahul on the controversial comments he made, the disqualification was announced. The Congress party faced a big blow with this.
At the time when the grand old Congress party was working on the Lok Sabha elections to take on the BJP, a lower court imposed the disqualification on the Gandhi scion. Now the issue took a big turn with Rahul Gandhi getting a big relief.
The Supreme Court not only stayed the conviction in the case but also restored his status as the MP. After giving the verdict, the three-judge bench gave an interim order in this regard. The Supreme Court gave the orders hearing the petition filed by Rahul Gandhi.
The Gandhi scion moved the Supreme Court with a petition seeking directives to stay the conviction issued by the local court. Senior advocate Abhishek Manu Singhvi represented Rahul Gandhi in the case in the court. During the arguments, he said that Purnesh Modi's surname is not Modi.
The development can be seen as a big relief for Rahul Gandhi and the Congress party. With the Bharat Jodo yatra, Rahul Gandhi's image changed and people started seeing him as a leader. As a shot in the arm effort, his conviction in the case was stayed.
With the stay on conviction, Rahul Gandhi can come to the Parliament and take on the BJP. Moreover, the Lok Sabha elections are just one year away, and even a small thing would get a big result.
Rahul Gandhi and Congress party has been aggressively targeting the BJP on the Adani issue alleging that the government is favoring him. But the attack slowed down as Rahul Gandhi was not in the house. Now we have to see how Rahul can target the BJP.
On the other hand, a few opposition parties came under one roof and formed the INDIA alliance to fight the BJP and Congress is also a part of the alliance. The Congress party would be high on Josh with the new development.
