Today marks Raksha Bandhan which is observed to celebrate the bonding between siblings. People across the nation celebrated the festivals with their siblings. Sisters tie Rakhi to their brothers. However, the Chief Minister's celebrations became the talk of the town.

Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar took part in Raksha Bandhan celebrations. However, the Chief Minister tied the Rakhi to a tree. A few Ministers and officials were also present on the occasion held at Patna.

There is a big reason behind the Chief Minister tying Rakhi around a tree. He has been doing it for a long time and the reason for this is to create awareness of protecting trees and increasing the green cover.

Nitish Kumar reached the place accompanied by a few officials. He took the special Rakhi arranged by the officials and tied it to the tree. The Bihar government observes Raksha Bandhan every year as 'Bihar Vriksh Suraksha Diwas' to protect the environment.

The state government celebrates the day to create awareness among people to grow plants to increase the green cover and safeguard nature. The tradition was started back in 2012 and since then the same has been followed.

Following the same Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar took part in the celebrations and tied the Rakhi to the tree in Patna.
