The countdown for the much-awaited general elections in Telangana had begun. Only two days are left for the D-day. The 30th of this month is the election date and all the required arrangements have been made. The election fever had already gripped the state as the major parties took the elections prestigiously.

Ahead of the elections, the poll body Election Commission took a big decision and put brakes to the Rythu Bandhu Scheme. As per the schedule, the beneficiaries of the scheme were supposed to get the money tomorrow. Ahead of this, the decision to stop the scheme was taken by the poll body.

It is a big shock that the Election Commission took this decision. Earlier the scheme was allowed which led to a few objections on how the scheme was allowed days before the elections. A few complaints are said to have reached the poll body. Following this, the scheme was stopped.

The Election Body now said that disbursements will not be allowed under the scheme as the Model Code of Conduct is active in the state. Having said that, the Election Commission released a note confirming the same.

The issue took a political turn with the political parties reacting to the development. Telangana Finance Minister Harish Rao alleged that Congress leaders had written to the Election Commission against the Rythu Bandhu Scheme and asked why the scheme was targeted.

On the other hand, Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee chief Revanth Reddy welcomed the decision. He said that the ruling party has no other intention other than aiming for the votes from the people in the state.
