It is known that a 26-year-old CA who was working in Ernst and Young India passed away due to cardiac arrest due to stress in the work place. A lot of people were moved by this incidents and they are asking the people in power to take action which proves that nothing of that sorts will be happening in the future.

Congress MP Shashi Tharoor recently took to social media and assured everyone of punishing inhumanity at workplace. He wrote, “Had a deeply emotional and heartrending conversation with Shri Sibi Joseph, the father of young Anna Sebastian, who passed away after a cardiac arrest, following four months of deeply stressful seven-day weeks of 14 hours a day at Ernst&Young.”

He added, “He suggested, and I agreed, that I raise the issue of legislating, through Parliament, a fixed calendar for all workplaces, whether in the private sector or the public, that would not exceed eight hours a day, five days a week. Inhumanity at the workplace must be legislated out of existence with stringent punishment and fines for offenders. Human rights do not stop at the workplace! Will raise this matter at the first opportunity during the next session of parliament.”

Anna Sebastian died on 20th July while working at her office in Pune. The family accuses the work stress in office for her death and this became a topic of discussion across the country.
