Has the BJP given up on Telangana? With elections just a few months away, why is the national leadership not focusing on the state? Why is it not trying to iron out the differences within the top leadership of the party? Even senior hands known for their leadership skills are said to be failing in preparing the party for the upcoming elections.

For instance, Sunil Bansal, specially handpicked by Amit Shah to set the T BJP house in order, is said to have thrown his hands in helplessness over the ways of the senior BJP leaders in the party in Telangana. He is said to have told his confidants that working in Uttar Pradesh was far better compared to Telangana. He is said to have remarked that Telangana is a tough nut to crack.

Prakash Jawadekar, the former union minister, is an old Telangana hand. He was in-charge of the party for several years and knows the state like the palm of his hand. However, he too is said to have felt that reviving the BJP in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh is an extremely tough task.

Both the leaders are also of the opinion that the electioneering in AP and Telangana is such a prohibitively costly affair that it is better to invest both time and money in other more productive states where the party stands a better chance. With the top task masters themselves giving up, the fortunes of the BJP in both the states appear to be headed for the nadir.
