Supreme Court's Sensational Verdict On Caste Sub Classification!
Now the Supreme Court gave orders for this. With the verdict, the 2004 judgment in E V Chinnaiah vs State of Andhra Pradesh was overruled.
The Supreme Court gave a sensational verdict on the sub classification of SC and ST communities. The seven-judge bench led by Chief Justice DY Chandrachud gave the verdict saying that the subclassification is needed. While six judges supported this one judge opposed and the verdict was given in a 6:1 ratio.
The bench said that the sub classification is needed for reservation. The top court said that the state governments can classify the communities for the reservations. The verdict can be seen as sensational as the sub classification has been a long-standing demand.
Manda Krishna Madiga has been fighting for this and he even invited Prime Minister Narendra Modi for a meeting. At the meeting, Narendra Modi said that his government would take up the matter seriously.
Now the Supreme Court gave orders for this. With the verdict, the 2004 judgment in E V Chinnaiah vs State of Andhra Pradesh was overruled. Earlier the Supreme Court said that the SC and ST communities are homogenous and hence the sub classification cannot be done. The judgement said that only the President has the power in this.
Now this was overturned and the Supreme Court said that the state government can also do the sub classifications.
Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy welcomed the verdict of the Supreme Court. The firebrand leader said that the sub classification would be implemented to help the marginalised.
