Compared to the previous elections, the 2023 edition of the elections in Telangana created a lot of interest due to various reasons. The major parties in the state took the elections prestigious and heavyweights are taking part in the elections. A few other parties and independent candidates are also in the race.
Considering these aspects it is common to expect a good start and good numbers in the elections. But the quite opposite happened. The vote percentage was not that great when the elections started at 7 AM. However, the vote percentage picked up and the voting was concluded.
It was a big shock that the vote percentage fell short of expectations. Forget about seeing big numbers the vote percentage could not even reach the previous vote percentage which was close to 75 percent.
As per the media reports by 5 PM, a mere 63.94% voter turnout was recorded in the poll-bound state. This is a big shock as far as the vote percentage is concerned.
By 9 AM just eight percent votes were recorded and by 11 it crossed 20 percent and by 1 PM it increased. However, the elections did not end on a high note as anticipated. The vote percentage was reduced by ten percent compared to the previous elections.
Another possible reason for the low vote percentage was that polling concluded in 13 Assembly constituencies one hour before due to the left weft threat. However, there is no assurance on what impact the vote percentage in these seats would have.
