No Relief For Ruling BRS In Supreme Court!
The bench of Justices Abhay S Oka and Pankaj Mithal of the Supreme Court refused to entertain the petition and dismissed it
The elections in the poll-bound Telangana are fast approaching. The ruling Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) which won two consecutive terms and wants to score a hattrick of wins which is the first of its kind in the Southern states is having a big concern as far as the elections are concerned.
BRS party's election symbol is Car and it is worried that allotting similar election symbols to others will impact its winning seats With this, the party moved the Supreme Court seeking directives to not allot similar election symbols in the upcoming general elections.
The bench of Justices Abhay S Oka and Pankaj Mithal of the Supreme Court refused to entertain the petition and dismissed it. It is said that the bench said the petition was filed very late after it was refused by the High Court.
Media reports say that the bench expressed dissatisfaction when directives were sought to not allot election symbols which are similar to car. The bench said voters are intelligent to differentiate the election symbols.
Media reports say that the lawyers sought permission from the bench to approach the High Court in this regard. Saying yes to this, the bench observed that they could go to the High Court. However, the petition would be heard only on a merit basis.
Earlier the party moved the Delhi High Court with the petition. But the part faced a big shock as the High Court refused to entertain the petition. It is said that earlier, the party had written to the Election Commission to not give any election symbols similar to car. Now the Supreme Court also shocked the party.
