Telangana was carved out of the combined state in 2014. The coming June 2 marks ten years of the state bifurcation. However, people are still discussing Hyderabad and possibly making the city UT. Leaders are talking about the issue increasing the political heat in the state.

Earlier we have seen BRS leaders alleging that the Centre might make Hyderabad a Union Territory. They also blamed the BJP for the possible conspiracy and said they won't let this happen. However, Telangana Chief Minister Reventh Reddy rubbished all these rumours and said that there is no possibility of this.

Now a big debate is going on about whether the common capital status of Hyderabad would be extended further. When Telugu state was bifurcated into two Hyderabad was made the common capital for ten years as AP was left with no capital.

The debate was started when former CBI Joint Director V. V. Lakshminarayana gave his thoughts on this. He said that there is a possibility of this as the common capital status can be extended for ten more years.

The reason JD gave is that Andhra Pradesh doesn’t have any capital and the President might issue an ordinance to extend the common capital status for ten more years. He gave his thoughts on a social media post.

“Sec.5 : Hyderabad to be common capital for States of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh for a period not exceeding 10 yrs; But as AP could not get a capital ,now the President of India shall consider issuance of an ordinance extending the period by another 10 years,” his post reads.

If this can happen then it should be considered as a sensation. On one side the BRS leaders are alleging that Hyderabad might be made as a Union Territory. Leaders like KTR also said the same. Now JD came up with a sensational opinion on Hyderabad.
