CAS Response: Vinesh Phogat's Silver Hopes On?
As per the media reports the CAS had acknowledged that Indian wrestler Vinesh Phogat had filed an application to look into the issue.
We have faced a few setbacks in the ongoing Olympics as the athletes who were hot favourites to win the medal had an early exit. However, what happened to a Wrestler came as a big sensation. Despite reaching the Finals she was disqualified. The efforts she put into stopping the disqualification went in vain.
We are talking about Vinesh Phogat here. She participated in the 50 kg category and she reached the Finals. There was a big anticipation that she would get Gold in the Paris Olympics. But her journey faced a big shock as she was disqualified due to being overweight.
She had a miraculous path to cut down her weight and a slight amount of blood was also removed from her body. Despite this, she was 100 grams overweight leading to her disqualification.
No words can describe the situation she has been going through. She moved the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) to challenge this. Now the body issued a statement that hints that her Silver Medal hopes would be very much on.
As per the media reports the CAS had acknowledged that Indian wrestler Vinesh Phogat had filed an application to look into the issue. CAS said that a decision would be taken on this before the ongoing Olympics end.
This can be seen as a big breaking in the issue and we can say that the hopes are still on. If The CAs can give a positive verdict on this then we would see the Indian wrestler win the Silver though she is qualified to win the prestigious Gold.
If everything goes well the Indian Wrestler would end her stint at the Paris Olympics with a Silver if not for Gold. Let us hope for the best that the Wrestler gets a positive response from the body in the issue.
