The source of information has been changing rapidly with humankind making progress in technology. Earlier Radio was the main source of information and the Newspapers took over its place. In a game-changing development, TVs were introduced and it remains a big part of our lives.

Televisions have become a big part of our lives and we can barely see houses that don't have TVs. This speaks volumes about the pivotal role it plays in one's life. Today is World Television Day which is celebrated on the 21st of November every year and let us know its significance.

Philo Taylor Farnsworth, an American inventor is dubbed as a television pioneer for the valuable contributions he made in the field. He gave the world's first public demonstration of an all-electronic television system in the 1920s. Later the device production saw many developments and reached the shape we are using it currently.

The mechanism of TV works in a way that it transmits moving images and sound. We are living in an era that we cannot imagine our lives without it and this is the impact it has on our lives.

We have been celebrating World Television Day since 1996 in a bid to honour the device and the crucial impact it makes on our lives.

The 90s in India saw a different picture as far as TVs were concerned. Only a few people used to have TVs and special programs used to be aired. To watch the special shows people used to gather in households where there was a TV and enjoy the show together.

However, it did not take much time for the growth of TV usage. Cut to a few decades India had become one of the biggest markets for TV sales and we could get international brands in India. This is the growth India saw in this aspect.
