YSRCP beats TDP in political biopics ahead of elections

Like the BJP, which made third party producers to come up with such films, the YSRCP too is doing the same.

With the elections round the corner, can the political films with election-oriented messages be far behind? While the BJP has come up with nationalistic films like Sam Bahadur and fighter to woo the audience, the ruling YSRCP in Andhra Pradesh too is coming up with its own version of films with a political message. Like the BJP, which made third party producers to come up with such films, the YSRCP too is doing the same.

The YSRCP has already come up with Yatra 2, which explored YSR-Jagan relation and ends with Jagan becoming the chief minister of the state. The film shows Chandrababu, the namesake antagonist in bad light. The slickly made film is winning accolades and is bringing back memories of late YSR. Interestingly, Yatra was made in 2019 and it played no mean part in swaying the neutral voters towards the YSRCP.

On February 16, maverick director Ram Gopal Varma’s Vyuham is set to hit the screens in Telangana. The film details the machinations of Chandrababu in trying to isolate YS Jagan. This too is an out-and-out political film and is sure to create quite a ruckus.

During the 2019 elections even the TDP came up with a two-part biopic on NTR, but the films bombed badly at the box office. Balakrishna as NTR failed to vow to the audience. Learning from this bitter experience, the TDP is wary of coming up with any film for this elections. But the YSRCP is clearly one-up on the TDP and is coming up with not one but two biopics.
