One of the most decide documentations in the United States is the green card which grants permanent residency to the immigration population. But since the onset of the Donald Trump administration, it has become increasingly common for the Indian community to get their hands on the green card.

The long and frustrating wait for Green Cards among Indian applicants has shown slight signs of easing, according to the latest US Visa Bulletin updates. After months of stagnation, there is now modest forward movement in key employment-based categories, offering cautious optimism to thousands of Indians stuck in decades-long queues. The biggest relief has come in the EB-2 category, where the final action date has moved forward to mid-2014. This marks a noticeable jump compared to previous months and indicates that older applications are finally being processed.

However, the progress is uneven. The EB-3 category remains largely unchanged, showing that many mid-level skilled professionals will continue to face long waiting periods. Meanwhile, EB-1 has seen minor improvement, benefiting highly skilled professionals and executives.

Experts suggest that this limited progress could be due to better visa number management and slightly reduced demand. Some spillover visas from other countries are also helping ease the pressure on India’s backlog.

Despite this movement, the overall situation remains challenging. Indian applicants still face waiting periods exceeding 10 years, largely due to the US per-country cap system, which restricts how many Green Cards can be issued annually to any one nation.

In essence, while the queue is moving again, it is far from a permanent solution. The latest update offers a small window of opportunity, not a breakthrough, for Indians chasing permanent residency in the United States.
