With BRS, against Congress in state, but with Congress, against BRS at the Centre!!

The cadre of the Left parties - the CPI and the CPM- are in a quandary. They are unable to explain the logic behind the Left Parties stand on 2024 elections. They do not really know which side they are on. Conflicting statements and actions by the leadership has put the party cadres in a tight spot.

The Left parties have recently announced their support to the Opposition Front at the national level. Their leaders not only attended the meetings at Patna and then at Bengaluru, but also assured to work under the leadership of the Congress Party. They have justified their stand claiming that defeating the BJP was of prime importance.

In Telangana, however, the state units of the Left Parties have announced their support to the ruling BRS. Now, BRS is not part of the opposition unity move. Also, the opposition has not invited the BRS to the meetings. In fact, in Telangana, the BRS is pitted against Congress, which the left parties are supporting at the national level.

So, the Left is with the BRS and against the Congress in Telangana, while it is with the Congress and against the BRS at the national level. They claim to work to defeat the BJP, which in Telangana is currently placed in the third position and is not even in the reckoning in Andhra Pradesh. A tightrope walk that only Left can do.
