Purandeswari makes right noises.. so far!

AP BJP's new chief Daggubati Purandeswari has just taken over the reins of the ramshackle party unit the other day. While the beginning looks impressive, she has not just her task cut out, she also has several challenges to contend with in the deeply divided party unit. It remains to be seen how she tackles all these challenges and steers the party to a creditable performance.

There is intense groupism in the party. A section of the party that owes its allegiance to outgoing party chief Somu Veerraju is set to put spokes in her way. At the same time, there is a significant section in the party which strongly roots for an alliance with the TDP. These leaders actually work as TDP lobbyists in the party. They too are going to give her a tough time.

As of now, Purandeswari, an articulate communicator and clever politician, has made the right noises. She has already begun the process of holding zonal level review meetings. The dates for Rayalaseema zone, Central Coastal region, South Coastal and North Andhra regions have been fixed and she has also begun the task of talking to key leaders.

On the issue of alliances, she has said that it is for the national leadership to decide on political alliances and that her work is to keep the party apparatus well-oiled. She has also given clarity that the BJP does not support the YSRCP government in any which way. She said that the party will take the government to task over its acts of omission and commission.
