Baahubali Is Like A Slap On Our Faces!

Baahubali was released by Karan Johar's Dharma Productions in the North India and the rest is history. This is what the B-Town Producer said about the historic achievement - 'Actually, I have done nothing for making 'Baahubali: The Conclusion' such big hit. Hindi Version of the war drama collected Rs 150 crore in excess to the highest grosser of Bollywood until then. No other film was able to reach close to it so far. In a way, Baahubali made us feel inferior…its like a slap on our faces. That is when we realized that we have to offer more to gain more. Dharma Productions is currently bankrolling four high-budget ventures. Bollywood Stars, Directors and Production Houses are now planning big event films'.

Karan Johar believes 'Baahubali' is the first big thing to happen for nullifying the gap between South & North. He told people in his Office were now discussing about a Southern Film 'Sarkar' and what's happening down South.

Asked if he is looking forward to enter South Industry, Karan Johar admits he have no such plans but keen to collaborate with films such as 'Baahubali' and '2.O'. 'I don't have plans to produce South Indian Films as I don't know the language. South Indian Stars are comfortable in their own space. They have the stardom, market and know exactly what they are doing. If I go to Hyderabad, I could see all the Heroes (Rana, Ram Charan, Allu Arjun) spending time together. That's how close those families are connected with each other. I mayn't go to South, but surely consider collaborating with big event films made in South if I believe they are worth releasing in Bollywood. Post Baahubali, I was approached to release so many Films but choose only '2.O' as it sets the standards high,' he explains.

When quizzed why South Indian commercial films were a big hit in the North India especially the TV Audience, Karan Johar explained: 'Just because they can be watched from any point. Audience needn't have to worry about what is the previous sequence. For concept-based films, Viewers need to watch right from the beginning to understand what's happening. The other day, I was watching an Allu Arjun film (Sarrainodu)…so many things happening during the fight sequence in the temple. There is a beautiful emotion and strong conviction in it. That's why they were appreciated by a larger section of people irrespective of region'.
