Huge Blow For 'Ghani' As It Fails Badly At Box Office!

Mega Prince Varun Tej's last outing 'Gaddalakonda Ganesh' was a smash at the box office and it earned around 25 crores at the box office. Before that, his multi-starrer 'F2' got more than 60 crores and love stories like 'Fidaa' and 'Tholi Prema' were good hits too. He earned a good following among the youth and earned the image of a bankable hero. He is known for selecting different scripts right from the beginning and picked a sports drama for his 10th film.
As we know, it is 'Ghani' which is produced by Allu Bobby and Siddhu Mudda. Debutant Kiran Korrapati directed this flick which had a lot of buzz prior to its release. Irrespective of the talk, people estimated that the film would get decent openings. Believing in Varun's craze, the buyers bought the theatrical rights for 27 crores.
But sources say that the movie may not even get a tenth of what it was sold for. This situation is a shock to everyone including the trade pundits and film team. Arriving after 'RRR' and one week before 'KGF - 2' proved to be a very costly mistake by the team. On top of that, it got a negative talk right from the first show which led to the audience showing no interest in the film whatsoever. The openings were not at all encouraging but everyone expected 'Ghani' to pick up in the weekend but it did not happen.
The collections were bad on Saturday and Sunday too and a lot of people even forgot that 'Ghani' was released a few days back. Theatre owners are running 'RRR' again due to the poor performance of 'Ghani' and trade pundits claim that it may not even collect a share of 3 crores by the end of its theatrical run. It may end up as Varun's biggest disaster and people are stunned looking at the numbers it is registering.
Kannada star Upendra and Bollywood senior star Suniel Shetty will be seen playing crucial roles in this project. Saiee Manjrekar plays the female lead. Happening music composer Thaman is working on the music while George C Williams is the director of photography.
