Humongous Losses For Brahmastra!

'Brahmastra' is one of the biggest Bollywood films ever made and it gained a lot of media attention. The team went above and beyond to promote the film all over the country. Karan Johar used every trick in the book to bring hype on this supernatural fantasy drama and brought Rajamouli onboard as a presenter in South India. The North Indian media tried to paint this as a superb film with a lot of positives. They publicized the first weekend's collections and declared it a blockbuster.

But the reality is quite different from what the team tried to portray. The movie managed to get a divide talk and got very good collections in the first week. It ran in theatres for a long time and with its theatrical run ending, the analysts looked at its final collections and declared it as a disaster. The movie had a gross of 400 crores and earned a share of around 200 crores. The collections in India were around 300 crores but the pre-release business was done for 600 crores. The movie had to get a minimum of 300 crores in theatres to cross the breakeven mark.

Looking at the collections, it got only 190 crores which is a mere 65% of the theatrical business. The movie did not enter the breakeven mark anywhere except in the Telugu market. The makers are planning a second part already and are claiming that 'Brahmastra part One: Shiva' is a good hit but the numbers prove otherwise. Ranbir and Alia Bhatt are the hero and heroine in this project while Big B Amitabh Bachchan, King Nagarjuna, Mouni Roy and others played key roles. Bollywood Baadshah Shah Rukh Khan gave a special appearance in this high-budget supernatural drama. Produced jointly by Star Studios, Dharma Productions, Prime Focus and Star Light Pictures, this grand project is an adventure film with a lot of supernatural elements inspired by the Hindu gods. 'Baahubali' and 'RRR' director SS Rajamouli presented this film in South India.
