In Balakrishna's 'Top Hero', There is a song with lyrics 'Beedilu Thagandi Babulu, Thagi Swargganni Cherandi Babulu'. If you feel the actor has endorsed Cigar product just as per the character requirement, Then you are mistaken…!
In a recent interview, Balayya revealed: 'I smoke one homemade cigar (chutta) every day to stay healthy & for keeping my throat in good condition'. He then reminded about an age old saying 'Amrutham Chukka Bhumi Midhiki Raali Pogaku Chettuga Puttindhi….Poga Thagani Vaadu Marujanmalo Dunnapothu Ayi Pudathadu'.
When expressed shock over the revelation, Balakrishna commented Dhrutharastrudu lost vision as he don't smoke and Dasarath don't have children because he imposed a ban on tobacco. He told Sri Krishna lost Jarasandudu and Pandu Raju suffered from a disease due to the same reasons. Lastly, He described Cigar as a boon to mankind.
