K.S. Ravi Kumar is known as the hit machine of Tamil Film Industry. He attained great following with his movie, Nattamai and then he directed Rajnikanth and Kamal Hasan in Muthu and Avai Shanmugi. Later he ventured into Telugu films as well and he directed the movies Sneham Kosam and Bavanacchadu with Megastar Chiranjeevi and Akkineni Nagarjuna.

Even though his films did not work much in Telugu, he has a cult following in Tamil as he made Padayya/Narasimha, Tenali, Panchatantram/Panchatantiram, Manmadan Ambu, Lingaa with the famous stars. He also directed Varalaru, Anjaneya with Ajith and now, he is looking to make a movie with Nandamuri Balakrishna.

The director is invited as a special guest for the trailer launch event of the Tamil dub of Balakrishna's Gautamiputra Satakarni. Director Krrish also participated in the event. During the event, K.S. Ravi Kumar said, " We could not complete Rana, that I planned with Rajnikanth long time back due to his ill-health.

"During the time, we planned to shoot the movie in 277 days and today we can complete the movie within 150 days, with all the technological advancement. Making a historical is not an easy task. Had Rana been completed and released during the time, the movie might have created the Baahubali sensation long back only! I wish all the best to Krrish and it is highly unbelievable that he completed the movie is 75 days!"
