Pushpa makers dodged a bullet with Ghani!!
By: Tupaki Desk | 10 April 2022 8:43 AM GMTGhani starring Varun Tej released on 8th April. Not many people knew about the release or they focussed on RRR more and decided to wait for Beast feast and rocking KGF Chapter 2 experience next weekend.
Whatever may be the reason, producers promoted the movie with less enthusiasm and that resulted in bad returns at the box office. Varun has F3 to bounce back but Ghani had him transform his body and even attain boxer look to sell and suit character better.
This will be a major set back for him after few box office hits like Fidaa, F2, Tholiprema, Gaddalakonda Ganesh. Actually, movie story had been sent to Pushpa producers, Mythri Movie Makers as per the reports.
Mythri Movie Makers heard Kiran Korrapati's story and did not feel it would work for them. Varun Tej on the other hand fell in love with the subject and recommended it to his friend, Siddu.
Allu Bobby joined Siddhu and hence the movie started. Varun took the transformation required for the role seriously and invested more than 8 months time to attain the look. While this increased initial budget, pandemic compounded the difficulties of producers financially.
It increased the costs by 200%, reportedly to Rs. 48 crores and from Theatrical business the film had to recover Rs. 25 crores while non-theatrical rights helped them in securing Rs. 23-25 crores.
With such bad response from viewers and even bad reviews, the film has made it highly improbable for it to recover Rs. 25 crores. Hence, this has become second Master range disaster for Varun Tej in his career.
Mythri Movie Makers cleverly dodged this bullet, say trade pundits.
