Valimai Box Office: Star Power of Ajith make it Blockbuster

Tamil Star heroes are sticking to tried and tested formula from past few years. Rajnikanth sticked to Basha template in Kabali, Kaala films. His Pedanna/ Annatthe had different stories to his recent films but it was called a serial by many.
Movie became a failure in Telugu states. But it collected decent amounts in Tamil Nadu. Vijay's Master, Bigil and Mersal did not have very new themes too.
Ajith came up with Valimai and at box office, it did well even though talk was at best average. Movie has collected Rs. 200 crores gross by the end of second week.
Even though Suriya's ET is coming out on 10th March, major theatres did not give space for ET and continuing with Valimai.
Valimai is said to be Ajith's highest grosser after Viswasam. Actor has huge fan base in families and his film released after three years. Hence, this film got saved at the box office.
