The hospital has completed 25 years of service, and many prominent leaders, doctors, donors, and members of the NTR family attended the special event.
Balakrishna said the hospital was started with a mission to help cancer patients, especially those who cannot afford expensive treatment. Speaking at the event, he said, “The services of Basavatarakam Hospital will continue until patients win their battle and families smile again”
The actor said he was not standing there as a film star or politician, but as a son remembering his mother, Basavatarakam Nandamuri. He recalled the difficult time when she suffered from cancer. Balakrishna said his family had the resources to fight the disease, but many poor families do not. This painful experience inspired the creation of the Basavatarakam Trust and the cancer hospital.
He also shared that the hospital now performs around 35 to 40 cancer surgeries every day. Over the years, it has become a ray of hope for thousands of cancer patients and their families. He also revealed that more than 3.75 lakh patients have received outpatient services from the hospital.
Balakrishna said the main goal of the hospital is to ensure that people who come with fear and pain leave with confidence and a smile. He added that no cancer patient should be denied treatment because of a lack of money.
The actor thanked governments from both Telugu states, donors, and various organizations for supporting the hospital during its 25-year journey. He said the promise made 25 years ago has been successfully fulfilled and will continue in the future.
Balakrishna also announced plans to establish a new cancer hospital in Amaravati and expand the services of the Hyderabad facility, helping even more patients in the coming years.
