Balakrishna-Koratala Film: Many Coteries Hurt?
The announcement of this film hasn’t come, but the very talk itself is said to have upset a lot of insiders.
By: Shanaz B Syed | 24 April 2026 11:25 PM ISTOne of the biggest news stories that stunned Tollywood in the last couple of days is none other than the buzz that senior star Nandamuri Balakrishna is teaming up with director Koratala Siva. While Siva is supposed to helm Jr NTR’s hyped sequel Devara 2, this sudden change of camp, replacement of hero, and beginning of a new film has surely stunned many. Guess what, some coteries are deeply hurt by the move.
The announcement of this film hasn’t come, but the very talk itself is said to have upset a lot of insiders. While a star director who wanted to associate with Balakrishna got hurt, a production house that wanted to make Balakrishna’s film and make most of it from the OTT sales also got hurt. The very same production house has, in fact, conveyed to Balayya that his film’s production cost should be brought down as OTTs are not offering good after Akhanda 2’s flop at the box office. Now that Balakrishna is likely to proceed with another production house for Siva’s film, this big banner has been majorly hurt, they say.
Other thing is that another director who was supposedly working on a script for Balakrishna, and was promised a film immediately, is said to have badly got hurt. While he’s working on the fourth story for the senior hero, with almost three of his previous drafts getting rejected by Balakrishna, now if the actor takes up Koratala’s movie, this director’s project will be almost out of the scene and pushed into oblivion. Because the star hero has two other movies with young directors post-wrapping Koratala’s film.
Well, let the announcement regarding Koratala Siva’s movie come first; otherwise, there is no point for all these coteries to create a hullabaloo out of this buzz.
